US-listed Trimble and founding management sell BIM specialist Construsoft to Green Park

Green Park acquires Construsoft from founders Jan Fennema and Eric Vanmechelen and minority shareholder Trimble. Fennema and Vanmechelen stay onboard as CEO and CTO respectively and reinvest together with Green Park. Others involved in the transaction are various local managers that sell their stakes in local subsidiaries around the world to also reinvest in at group level. Blacktrace acted as exclusive financial advisor to the shareholders of Construsoft.

Construsoft is a Dutch Building Information Modeling (BIM) software consultant and Trimble partner offering software licenses, bespoke software development, consultancy services, customized support, and in-depth user training. Serving over 2.500 customers and 10.000 active users in 30 countries across Europe and South America, Construsoft enables digitization of the construction and engineering industries. The company currently employs 160 people and generates 30 million euros in sales.

Construsoft’s main product is Tekla Structures, a structural BIM tool for the design, detailing, fabrication, and construction of concrete, steel, and timber structures. The software features the highest level of detail in the industry, enabling BIM data to be truly constructible throughout every project phase.

Trimble is an American software and hardware company listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Trimble develops solutions for the construction, geospatial, transportation and agriculture industries, amongst others. Its products are used in over 140 countries around the world, making them a market leader in industrial technology. In 2011, Trimble acquired 100% of the shares in Tekla Corporation, a renowned market player in the BIM software space offering Tekla Structures.

Green Park Investment Partners (Green Park) is an independent investment company founded in 2011 with offices in Ghent and Amsterdam. Green Park invests in small- and medium-sized companies in the Benelux area and specializes in buyouts, successions, and growth financing.

Green Park expects sharp growth in the global market for specialized construction software. Wim Vernaeve, partner at Green Park states: “Better software eliminates expensive errors at an early stage. With the acquisition, Green Park intends to foster the professional development and growth of Construsoft, aiming to increase the company’s turnover to 50 million euros.
